The CIO Institute's programs and workshops are constantly evolving to respond to the ever-changing educational needs of information technology professionals in government, non-profit and private organizations. Our programs span a variety of current topics, and most are conveniently offered in the greater Washington D.C. area. We work hard to provide the latest in executive education, we are always open to suggestions for programs, and are willing to customize workshops or courses to your organization's needs.
Federal CIO Certificate Program
The CIO Institute's Federal CIO Certificate Program is designed for emerging and current CIO's, CTO's, and other executives with IT oversight responsibilities. As part of the Federal CIO University, the CIO Institute courses address the executive core competencies adopted by the Federal Chief Information Officers Council. Participants completing the CIO Institute program receive a Federal CIO University Certification issued jointly by the Federal CIO University and Carnegie Mellon.
The program consists of eight specialized courses, offered in executive education format. Most courses are offered in the Washington, DC area, with one exception: the January course is usually held in a location with a warmer climate! You may register for one, several, or the complete certificate program. The certificate may be completed in one year, or enrollment can be extended across multiple years. Certificate-to-Degree Option
The CIO Institute has partnered with Carnegie Mellon's Heinz School to offer a customized version of its Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT) degree for CIO Certificate participants and alumni who wish to carry on their studies towards a graduate degree in IT management. Through this partnership, participants can apply for admission to the MSIT distance degree after completing any two or more CIO Certificate courses. The MSIT curriculum is customized for CIO Institute students, awarding advanced standing credit and generous scholarship for completion of the full CIO Certificate. It offers the flexibility of distance learning technologies, including course web sites, discussion boards, chat rooms, and video lectures.
